Maui Surf Forecast

North: Wave heights are expected knee/waist high today at the best breaks. Ho’okipa area could get sets up to chest high from time to time.

West: Wave heights waist/chest high are expected today with top breaks reaching shoulder/head high on the sets. Spots shadowed by other islands will be smaller.

South: The south-southwest is expected to bring waist/chest high waves today. The best breaks could get up to shoulder high or more on the sets.

Oho is generating a shorter period southeast shifting east swell for the Hilo side but Maui is heavily shadowed. As the swell shifts out of the east we will get something but keep in mind the system, at this point, is expected to track farther away from the islands.

Our current north-northeast is fading to leftovers for Tuesday morning. New northwest is expected to build Tuesday. Another better angled north-northwest is expected to move in Wednesday, peak late Wednesday and begin to fade for the second half of the week.

Our current south-southwest holds Tuesday as a bigger south-southwest builds in and peaks late Tuesday into Wednesday and fades through the end of the week.

Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
