The Medical Marijuana Dispensary License application for Hawaiʻi is now available online at mmjdisp.ehawaii.gov.

Applications may be submitted online from Jan. 12, 2016 8 a.m. HST until Jan. 29, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. HST.  There is a fee of $5,000 for each application.

The medical marijuana dispensary law allows the Department of Health to award a total of eight licenses initially: three for the City and County of Honolulu, two each for Hawaiʻi and Maui Counties, and one dispensary license for the County of Kauaʻi.

Each dispensary licensee will be allowed to operate up to two production centers and two retail-dispensing locations upon approval.

The department expects to select and announce licensees by April 15, with licensees to begin dispensing no sooner than July 15, 2016.

“Applicants should be careful to follow the online application instructions completely,” said Keith Ridley, Chief of the DOH Office of Health Care Assurance in a press release statement. “The online process is straight forward and follows Chapter 329D of the Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes and Chapter 11-850 of the Hawaiʻi Administrative Rules,” he said.
