Tickets on Sale Now for MAMo at The MACC
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center and the PA’I Foundation will present MAMo at The MACC on Saturday, June 25, 2016, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Trunk Show will begin at 6 p.m.
This year’s third consecutive wearable art event will showcase creations by Maile Andrade, Elisha Clemons, Manaola Hawai‘i, Koa Johnson, Anna Kahalekulu, Kēhaulani Kekua, Keoua Nelsen, Marques Marzan and Wahine Toa.
The event, which was launched in Honolulu in 2006, will feature emcees Vicky Takamine, Robert Cazimero and Ekela Kani‘aupio.
A component of the Maoli Arts Movement, the wearable art show celebrates Hawaiian design in fabric and clothing—specifically in terms of cultural motif—in a way that makes it more than just a runway fashion show. Many traditional Hawaiian patterns and designs—in kapa and weaving, weaponry and tools, tattoo and adornment—take their visual clues from nature.
Tickets: $35; $45 for reserved seating; $65 for VIP, which includes early access to trunk show and meet-and-greet with the designers (plus applicable fees).
