Warning Level Surf Expected, Pe’ahi (Jaws) Breaking

High Surf Warning: North and east shores of Molokai and Maui through 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Small Craft Advisory: All waters and channels through 6 a.m. Thursday.
Marine Weather Statement: A large north-northeast swell will continue through Wednesday. This will impact Kahului harbor with moderate harbor surges and large breaking waves at the harbor entrance. Mariners should use extreme caution when entering or leaving port and when mooring or launching vessels.

Maui Surf Forecast
North: Most spots will be completely maxed out today with double to triple overhead surf expected. Deep water breaks like Pe’ahi (Jaws) could get even bigger than that up to 18 to 25 foot faces or more.
West: Surf is ankle/waist high today. Spots catching some of the west-northwest wrap will be bigger up to should high or even overhead.
South: Surf is ankle/waist high today. The best spots catching the wrap could get bigger.
Our current northwest pulse will be down to traces Wednesday. That same storm which generated the northwest pulse has re-intensified and brought a large north-northeast swell which is expected to peak Wednesday and remain solid through Thursday before fading through the second half of the work week. Another small northwest is due in Friday / Saturday.
Nothing significant expected out of the South Pacific any time soon.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
