A 21-year-old Kula woman suffered fatal injuries in a single-vehicle collision on Holopuni Road in Kula on Saturday afternoon. The crash occurred about 340 feet east of Pūlehu Road at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 15, 2025.

As of May 13, 53 traffic fatalities have occurred on Hawaiʻi’s roadways this year, a 51% increase from the same period last year when 35 deaths were recorded.

A 49-year-old Haʻikū woman suffered fatal injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Baldwin Avenue in Pāʻia, Wednesday.

Maui Police Department Vehicular Homicide Unit Investigators request the public’s help regarding an ongoing fatal hit-and-run investigation. The investigation stems from a report of a man found lying in the road on Piʻikea Avenue in Kīhei around 4:05 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

Maui recorded another pedestrian fatality, this time as the result of a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Puʻunēnē Avenue in Kahului Tuesday night. The Kahului accident involved a 49-year-old woman who was walking in the middle of the road on Puʻunēnē Avenue, outside of a marked crosswalk, according to police.

A Haʻikū man has succumbed to injuries sustained in a weekend motorcycle crash at the Dairy Road, Hukilike Street intersection in Kahului. Police say 28-year-old Matthew Perreira died on Tuesday morning while at the Maui Memorial Medical Center.  

A 72 year old Kīhei man suffered fatal injuries in a moped crash reported Thursday night on the Piʻilani Highway in South Maui.

Maui police are responding to a report of a vehicle over a cliff in West Maui along the Honoapiʻilani Highway near DT Fleming Beach.  At around 11:26 a.m., the highway was temporarily closed in both directions at the location.  Maui Now has received police confirmation that the accident involves a fatality. *This is a developing story. The Mustang crashed through construction fencing at the old Maui Lu site, and continued out of control, rolling over and coming to rest upside down, landing 15 feet atop a pile of lumber.  A 38-year-old Wailuku man was arrested for negligent homicide, driving under the influence and excessive speeding after fleeing the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash in Kīhei early this morning.

The collision occurred as a 2004 Honda CR-V multi-purpose vehicle was traveling southbound on Pūlehu Road attempting to negotiate a right curve in the roadway.

A pedestrian riding an electronic skateboard suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Kaʻahumanu Avenue in Kahului on Monday night.

Christopher Thurber, 63, was pronounced dead at the Queen’s Medical Center on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident.

The pick-up truck then traveled across the on-coming lane and into a second guardrail and overturned and landed on the operator, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
