A High Surf ADVISORY has been issued by the National Weather Service in Honolulu for Maui’s east facing shores.

A large northwest swell will build throughout Wednesday, bringing waves from 12 – 16 feet to the North Shore. Waves will rise to 20 – 24 feet by Thursday.

Today, surf heights on Maui’s north shore are expected to reach 15 feet and slowly diminish along with the recent northwest swell.

Surf heights on the North Shore are expected to reach 18-22 feet today and will rise tonight to 25-35 feet, peaking on Wednesday.

Surf along the North shores will drop from the 18 to 24 foot level seen overnight to 14 to18 feet today. West shores will be in the 12 to 14 foot range.

There are several advisories in effect for Maui County including a Flood Watch and Wind Advisory through this afternoon, and a High Surf Advisory for the East facing shores through Monday morning.

South shore surf on Maui will rise over the next couple of days as a long period swell arrives in the islands.
