The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) is kicking off a new multi-pronged recruitment campaign for adult corrections officers (ACO) beginning Monday, June 10, 2024.

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs awarded the nonprofit Homestead Community Development Corporation $500,000 over two years for its Residential Employment Living Improvement program.

The Hawai‘i State Department of Labor & Industrial Relations announced that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for July was 3.7 percent, down from 4.0 percent in June. The last time the seasonally adjust unemployment rate was at or below 3.7 percent was in April 2008, when it was 3.6 percent, the department stated today.

In an effort to strengthen economic development and job growth, and restore public services, House Speaker Rep. Souki said the state must proceed intelligently, and generate more state revenues.

Hawaii Tourism officials have estimated that Hawaii could potentially see 6,000 new jobs created in the state as a result of the reforms in the Visit USA Act. She also voted against blocking the Obama Administration’s request to increase the US debt limit.

The majority caucus, made up of Democrats, identified job creation & the creation of a sustainable economy as critical priorities.
