#Maui Road Closure

A 50 acre brush fire reported yesterday in Kīhei is now 100% contained.  The department currently has one engine company and two tankers conducting mop up operations.

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

A list of lane closures slated for this week, July 4 to July 10.

Posted: 1:40 p.m. March 6, 2020: The Honoapiʻilani Highway is closed in the southbound direction at Ukumehame due to a downed power line. Traffic is being alternated. Motorists are asked to be cautious as they drive through the area.

Update: 3:49 p.m., March 2, 2020: Kahekili Highway is temporarily closed at Makaʻala Street due to water and debris on the roadway. Work is estimated to take approximately four hours. Motorists are asked to please avoid the area if possible.

One direction at a time of Hāna Highway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. between Monday evening, March 2 and Saturday morning, March 7. The night work will involve pavement milling and resurfacing of Hāna Highway between Kaʻahumanu Avenue and Dairy Road.

Lane closure on Hāna Highway (Route 360) in the northbound direction in the vicinity of Papaʻaea Road on Saturday, Dec. 28, through Friday, Jan. 3, over a 24-hour period, for retaining wall work.

Traffic is starting to resume its normal flow following a single-vehicle rollover crash on the Honoapiʻilani Highway.  As of 8:30 a.m., the vehicle was being towed from the scene and crews were working to clean fluids on the road.  Traffic that was previously at a standstill headed from Lahaina into Kahului has since started moving.  Motorists are asked to exercise patience as traffic resumes its normal flow.  The accident was reported shortly after 7 a.m. on the Lahaina side of the “Pali” tunnel, on the makai shoulder.

Honoapiʻilani HIghway is now open in both directions.  It was closed earlier today following a motor vehicle collision near Mile 35 a the Honokōhau Bridge.

Honoapiʻilani (Hwy-30) at Mile Marker 18 in Lahaina is now OPEN as of 4:40 a.m.  The highway was closed earlier this morning at around midnight due to a traffic investigation.  Check back for further details, which will be posted as they become available.  

The Honoapiʻilani Highway has re-opened to traffic in both directions after a temporary closure that started at around 10:45 a.m. while crews built up a berm to prevent the fire from encroaching onto the highway.

A portion of Hāna Highway will be closed in Kīpahulu starting today (Sept. 16, 2019) in order for crews to repair landslide damage to the road.

The Honoapiʻilani Highway is now open at the Kapoli Street intersection. It was closed earlier this afternoon following a traffic accident at the location.

South Kīhei Road is OPEN as of 6:47 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019.

Honoapiʻilani Highway is now OPEN in both directions. It was closed for over an hour between 3:20 and 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, while crews worked to put out several small brush fires from Māʻalaea to Ukumehame.

A roadway improvement project will result in the closure of a single lane of traffic on Mill Street in Wailuku from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019.

Kaupakalua Road is closed in both directions between South Holokai Road and Hāna Highway due to a downed utility pole that is completely across the roadway.

The collision occurred as a white 2017 Mercedes-Benz cargo van, operated by a 20-year old male from Kahului, was traveling north bound on Honoapiilani Highway when it crossed left of center and collided head-on into a silver 1987 Nissan pickup truck traveling south on Honoapiilani Highway.

On the Hāna Highway, there is a lane closure and contraflow in Keʻanae between miles 7.8 and 15 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for steel reinforcement installations.

The DOT will conduct roadwork at various locations throughout Maui this week, resulting in lane closures and alternating lane closures through Friday, Jan. 25.
