Maui County Farm Bureau launched this year’s Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair by naming Dr. Harold Keyser as this year’s Maui Legacy Farmer. The 17th edition of the event took place on May 30 at the War Memorial Special Events Field.

Maui County Farm Bureau welcomes Jayson Watts as incoming president for the Board of Directors for the 2025-’26 term. Former President Kyle Caires moves into the vice president position, and a full slate of experienced board members fill the remaining positions.

Imagine an outdoor classroom on the green grassy slope of a volcano, where the teacher is on horseback, and the students are learning about the soil, water and plants around them. This imaginary classroom is real—it comes to life once a year during the “Agriculture in the Classroom” Field Trip, an annual educational event put on by Maui County Farm Bureau.

Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair celebrates 16 years of agricultural education and celebration with its return to War Memorial Complex on Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair takes place today, Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at War Memorial Special Events Field.  This year at AgFest, Maui County Farm Bureau (MCFB) honors the legacy of “Chinese in Agriculture on Maui.” The Wo Hing Society presents this free special exhibit from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., outlining the history and lasting impact of Chinese immigrants and settlers. The Wo Hing Society Hall stood in historic Lahaina Town as a symbol of Chinese culture for more than a century before it was destroyed in the fires.

Now it its fourth month, the Farm Produce Purchase Program is a food purchase and distribution program available to Maui farms/farmers that sold an average of $2,500 per month produce prior to March 2020.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino announced the launch the Farm Product Purchase Program which will allow for the distribution of produce to families in need on Maui. The County of Maui is contributing $30,000 a week for the next four to five weeks to farmers for the purchase of produce locally. That food will be offered at five distribution centers to be set up, initially on the island of Maui.

More than 1,265 students from Maui’s public and private elementary schools participated in the MCFB’s annual Ag in the Classroom field trip at Haleakalā Ranch.

Maui County Agricultural Festival is set for April 2, with a farmers market, food, educational activities, cooking classes and plenty of family-friendly fun.

Farmers have until today (Thursday, May 28, 2009) to submit a survey that could influence future stream flows in east Maui.  The Maui County Farm Bureau began distributing the survey several months ago in the hopes of obtaining information on water usage and needs.  The information from the survey will help the farm bureau in […]
