Kumu hula of Halau Hula ‘O Hokulani, Marlene Hokulani DeRego passed away on July 1, after a six-month battle with stage-four cancer. She was 57-years-old.

We meet up with Kenneth Makuakane, whose music has been performed many times at the annual Merrie Monarch Hula Festival.
