Maui Police Department promotes six officers to Sergeant

The Maui Police Department announced the promotion of six officers to the rank of Sergeant.  All promotions are scheduled to take effect on April 2, 2023. The promotions include: Chase Bell, James Burkett, Carl Eguia, Jonathan Honda, Frank Kuamoo II and Randy Takayama.

The awards stem from two separate incidents involving rescues from burning homes in Kahului and Lahaina. Individuals honored include: Officer Jun Hattori, Officer Erik Losvar, Officer Gershom Slonim, Officer Randy Takayama , Officer Darryl Honda, Sergeant Kimberly Masse; Officer Clement Antonio; Officer Mathew Brown; and Officer Robert Corpuz.

“I looked inside the house and I could see about three-foot flames coming out of the stove area,” said Slonim, who made entry into the house and used a fire extinguisher that he had grabbed from his patrol vehicle to put out the flames.

20 RECRUITS GRADUATE INTO THE MPD RANKS
