24-Hour Haleakala Highway Lane Closures from Kahului to Pukalani

Motorists traveling to of from Upcountry Maui this week are advised of 24-hour single lane closures on the Haleakala Highway for concrete overlay operations. The state Department of Transportation is working to pour a 4-inch concrete overlay on five-miles of road in an effort to extend the life of the roadway by more than 30 years. The work is in the uphill portion of the Haleakala Highway only and the closure affects a single lane of traffic. During peak hours, one downhill lane will be contra-flowed to provide an additional Pukalani-bound lane. The work extends from North Firebreak Road to Haliimaile Road.
