GOVENOR, ECONOMIST & CARGO COMPANY TO SPEAK AT MAUI CHAMBER EVENTS

The Maui Chamber of Commerce will host several upcoming events on Maui featuring island dignitaries.

2009 ANNUAL GOVERNOR’S LUNCHEON

The first will be held this Friday, January 30, 2009 at the King Kamehameha Golf Club in Waikapu.  There, Governor Lingle will deliver the keynote address at the Maui Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting.  Lingle is expected to outline priorities for the 2009 legislative session and collaborative efforts to work with legislators to improve quality of life issues.  Registration for the luncheon begins at 11 a.m., with the luncheon running until 2 p.m.  Cost of attendance is $42 for members and $75 for non-members.  To make reservations the number to call is 871-7711 or the contact email address is: [email protected].

The Maui Chamber of Commerce will host its 2009 Annual Paul Brewbaker Economic Forecast Luncheon on February 6, 2009.  The event, sponsored by the Bank of Hawaii, will be held a the Sheraton Maui in Kaanapali.  Registration begins at 11 a.m.  Cost of attendance is $42 for Chamber members and $75 for non-members.  For more information or to register, the number to call is 871-7711.  Registration is also being accepted online at www.mauichamber.com, by clicking on the Chamber Events link on the right side of the homepage. 

YOUNG BROTHERS OPEN FORUM

Inter-island cargo company Young Brothers will be on Maui speaking to Maui Chamber of Commerce members and other small business groups about their proposed rate increase. Young Brothers, LTD is seeking a rate increase of nearly 18% to begin in August 2009. The open forum discussion will be held on February 9, 2009.  Each meeting is limited to 20 people.  Meeting times are as follows: 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 am 10:30 am to 12:00 noon 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at the Maui Contractors Association Meeting room in Kahului.  For more information, call Kayla at 871-7711 or email [email protected].
