MAUI POLICE ARREST 3; RECOVER NEARLY $955,000 IN DRUGS & CASH

Maui Police arrested three men in connection with a long term investigation into a crystal methamphetamine, cannabis and cocaine drug trafficking organization operating out of Maui County.

The investigation resulted in the service of several search warrants at residences, vehicles, businesses and persons. The warrants were executed during the months of January and February 2009.

Authorities recovered just under 3 pounds of cocaine powder, over 5 ounces of cannabis, over 8 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, $73,629 in U.S. Currency, 2 rifles, 1 pistol and other drug paraphernalia.

Maui police Capt. Gerald Matsunaga said the investigation is continuing with more arrests expected in the very near future. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has adopted the case and will work jointly with the Maui Police Department’s Vice Division for further investigations.

Names of arrested parties are not being released at this time, pending further developments.

The street value of the cocaine powder is approximately $129,500, the process cannabis is $2,000, and the crystal methamphetamine is $749,800.
