HOME SWEET HANA FOR DIALYSIS PATIENTS
Hui Laulima O Hana celebrates the completion of Hana’s own Dialysis Center.The group will bless the Hale Pomaika’i Hana Community Dialysis Home on April 11th.The group began efforts to secure a dialysis center in the rural East Maui location 5 years ago. This was in an attempt to provide service to Hana patients who travel to Central Maui for the nearest treatment facility—which means a 3-4 hour round trip several times a week.

Hui Laulima says there have been more than 10 dialysis patients who have passed away within a 12 year span—the most recent of which was Rosalind Moiha in June of last year.In February, the group was met with good news as the county council unanimously approved a 20 year lease to occupy the town’s old physician’s residence home for $1 a year.
