Police Chief Salary Under ReviewApril 1, 2009, 9:43 AM HST · Updated January 6, 11:36 AM 0 Comments
The Maui County Salary Commission will not be making a decision on a salary increase for the Police Chief, until the deadline for applications to fill the post has passed-that according to commission members.
Current pay is listed at $113,100 a year. With salary inversion factored in, members confirm that the figure amounts to at least $9,000 less than salary for an assistant chief within the department.
The Police Chief on Oahu makes $136,000 a year, and the Maui Police Commission was seeking an increase for the Maui Chief to $131,000.
The commission is currently looking to fill the post being vacated by the retirement of Chief Tom Phillips on June 1st.
The Salary Commission will revisit the issue when they meet again later this month.
