Kahului Airport and Tourism Update Planned at Next Governor’s Advisory Meeting
Kahului’s airport manager, Marvin Moniz will give an update on projects scheduled at the Maui Facility during the next meeting of the Governor’s council of neighbor island advisors.
Moniz will also provide an update on Maui tourism, based on the latest information by state Tourism Liaison Marsha Wienert, including additional direct flights to Kahului Airport and increased flights on existing routes that will benefit the economy of Maui.
Projects at Kahului are part of the state’s $2.3 billion Airports Modernization Plan.
The Maui meeting is open to the public and is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, March 18th at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku.
Governor Linda Lingle created councils of neighbor island advisors to give the neighbor islands a stronger voice in state government. The Maui Council of Neighbor Island Advisors holds monthly public meetings to seek community input and advise the Governor of important issues including recommendations for State boards and commissions.
