MACC to Benefit from 22nd Annual Golf Tourney
This year marks the 22nd annual Pundy Yokouchi Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit the arts and educational programs of Maui Arts & Cultural Center. The annual MACC fundraiser will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010, with a shotgun start on the greens of The Dunes at Maui Lani. Spots are still available for $150 per person and $550 sponsorship per hole.
Funds raised from tournament entry fees and sponsorships support MACC programs like Can Do! Days field trips for elementary students, professional development workshops for teachers, special arts performances for seniors and much more. Tournament proceeds also help The Center continue to bring world renowned artists to the Maui community.
“Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s annual golf tournament fills an important spot in our operating budget every year. Since this is the first year we have not had a title sponsor, it has been inspiring to see so many of Maui’s small businesses step up to the plate to ensure that the tournament continues to be successful,” said Lisa Varde, the MACC’s Director of Development.
In 2007, the golf tournament was named in memory of Pundy Yokouchi, Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Founding Chairman, who loved the arts, and loved to golf. MACC administrators say without Yokouchi’s vision, leadership and strong fundraising skills, the MACC would not have become a reality.
Since 1988, the tournament has raised over half a million dollars for the MACC, making it a vitally important part of The Center’s fundraising efforts every year. Participants represent a broad range of individuals and businesses from the community.
