Application Deadline April 23 for Maui Football Combine

Today (Friday, April 23, 2010) is the deadline to sign up for the Maui Football Combine that is set to take place on Saturday May 1^st.  The event provides MIL football players with an opportunity to demonstrate their agility and physical prowess without having to travel to Oahu or the mainland for similar clinics.

The event is free and available for MIL football players in the 9^th through 11^th grad.  Applications are available online at http://hisportsfolio.ning.com/.

The Maui Football Combine will test athletes in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, bench press (155. 185, 225), short shuttle, and L-shuttle.  The combine runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 1^st at the Maui High School campus.

“Our goal is to test the athletes in the most accurate and thorough way possible, then to post the information on the internet for interested coaches to view it so they may use it to evaluate the players they are recruiting,” Event Director Rodney Yap said in a press release.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for our MIL football players to showcase their talent,” said Maui Football Combine Head Coach Bobby Watson. “It’s important that our athletes, especially the underclassmen, participate and continue to try and get better. This is the first step in helping our kids get to college,” he said.
