Maui police are investigating the cause of a fatal single car collision in Kihei Monday night.  Authorities identified the victim as 58-year-old Terry Eoff of Kihei.

According to police reports, Eoff was traveling east on Kilohana Drive when the vehicle he was driving veered to the left, collided with a raised curb, and struck the support wire of a utility pole before overturning on the roadway.  The accident was reported at about 5:51 p.m. on Kilohana Drive, approximately 0.1 mile east of Waikai Street.

Eoff was the lone occupant of the 2006 Suzuki four door sedan and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.  He was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition and later died.

While the case is tentatively being investigated as a fatal crash, police say there is a possibility that the death was not due to injuries from the crash.  An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
