Mayor Charmaine Tavares and Council Member Joe Pontanilla will host a public meeting to gather input and discuss existing laws that affect commercial signs. Particular attention will be paid to regulations that apply to painted promotional signage placed on store windows.

Some Maui merchants plan to propose a revision of the county sign code so that business owners can use space in storefronts for advertising.

Members of the public and business owners are encouraged to attend. The meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, August 19, at 6:00 p.m. at Pomaikai Elementary School’s cafeteria in Kahului.
