Brush fire near Mokulele burns 4 acres of vacant land

A brush fire that was first reported at 1:50 p.m. today (Friday, August 20, 2010) burned an estimated 4 acres of vacant land.  The fire was located approximately 1/2 mile from the Mokulele Highway in Kahului.   Shortly before 6 p.m., Acting Battalion Chief Sheldon Holokai said the fire is 100% contained and crews were conducting mop-up operations.  Fire crews from Kahului, Wailuku, and Kihei were dispatched to the scene. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported. Traffic was not affected. The cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation.
