Ka Lima O Maui Proposes 16 Unit Affordable Housing Complex

Public comment is being accepted on the proposed Ka Lima O Maui affordable housing project in Central Maui. Plans call for the construction of 16 single-occupancy one bedroom apartments contained in two separate buildings on County owned land off of Mahalani Street in Wailuku.
The community-based vocational rehabilitation program has designed the project to meet the needs of the island’s disabled and economically challenged individuals.
The project consists of two separate residential buildings totaling a combined 8,888 square feet. Plans also call for the renovation of an existing 2,500 square foot building used by the Medicaid Waiver Program operated by Ka Lima O Maui. There’s also plans for the construction of a 3,600 square foot storage and garage facility at the site.
The project is located on property currently classified as urban by the state Land Use Commission, and zoned as R-3 Residential by the County of Maui.
Comments on the Draft Environmental Assessment for the project are being accepted through January 7, 2011. Comments can be addressed to:
