Contractors began work yesterday to  install a new culvert at Hauoli Street in Maalaea.  The road collapsed during heavy floods last week under the weight of a county vehicle.

Goodfellow Brothers construction company installed a new 3′ x 8′ box culvert at the location.   The road was reopened late last night, but the crossing is still plated due to ongoing work.  Crews continue work on pavement placement, channel transitions, and removal of a detour road.

County Deputy Communications Director, Ryan Piros said crews hope to get the culvert system completed today, although the pavement structure work is contingent upon availability of a paving crew.
