The accomplishments of several MIL teams have not gone unnoticed at the state level, resulting in their being ranked in the Star-Advertiser high school polls.
Playing like a team coming off a runner-up finish in last year’s state Division-I baseball tournament, Baldwin has gotten its MIL season off to a rousing start.
The Bears swept three games from Lahainaluna by the combined scores of 39-2. Baldwin is ranked sixth in the state. Maui High is expected to pose the biggest challenge for the Bears in the MIL.
Saint Louis of the ILH is No. 1, followed by Mid-Pacific, Kailua and there’s a tie for fourth between Moanalua and Pearl City.
Two MIL softball teams are ranked in the Top 10. Lahainluna, which has a 5-1 mark in league play, is No. 6. Baldwin, which is 5-2 in the MIL, is No. 10.
Mid-Pacific is No. 1, followed by Punahou , Waianae, Kapolei and Castle.
Seabury Hall, the state’s reigning D-II champion, is tied for sixth in the boys volleyball poll.
The top five spots are all occupied by ILH teams. In order: Kamehameha-Kapalama, Punahou, Iolani, Hawaii Baptist and Maryknoll.
