TravelAge West has selected Aston Kaanapali Shores as an Editor’s Pick for Best Resort for Families, Hawaii 2011.

As part of the WAVE (Western Agents Vote of Excellence) Awards, the Editor’s Picks were chosen by Editor-in-Chief Ken Shapiro and his entire editorial team of TravelAge West, and are based on a survey of selected travel agents, site visits, online research and product analysis. It’s not hard to see why Aston Kaanapali Shores is a finalist in the family awards considering the family oriented offerings described in a written statement from the company.

Aston Kaanapali Shores include suites with full kitchens suited well for families, and the resort boasts an on-site beachfront restaurant, two swimming pools, two jet spas, arcade room and a fitness center. On-property activities, designed for families, include free scuba lessons and free tennis on two lighted courts, pickle ball and shuffleboard courts. Families can also enjoy the arts and cultures of the Pacific with the resort’s complimentary, weekly Polynesian Show.

The resort’s year-round children’s program, Camp Kaanapali, offers a variety of fun, educational activities including hula and ukulele lessons, Hawaiian arts and crafts and beach exploration, and is available to kids from 5 to 12 years of age.

Aston Kaanapali Shores includes in its family packages a year-round Kids Stay, Play & Eat FREE program and a free Aloha Book, containing over $2,500 in savings on dining, shopping, and activities.

For the next phase of the TravelAge West WAVE recognition program, all the Editor’s Pick winners will be submitted to the readers of the magazine, both online and in the print edition, during the month of April. Their vote will determine the best in each category. Travel agent professionals throughout 14 Western U.S. states, along with readers of TravelAge West, are invited to vote on the Editor’s Pick award recipients in 47 award categories.

Winners of the WAVE Awards will be announced June 2 at the 2011 Awards Gala hosted in Beverly Hills, California.
