For $15, turn an average Friday night into a party and a political statement. The Save Honolua Coalition’s (SHC) benefit concert on Friday May 13, at Lulu’s Lahaina Surf Club and Grill, will feature InnaVision with Riddim of Knowledge and DJ Addamon Selectah. These local boys jam in Jawaaian and Hawaiian style. The vibe will be definitely, chill. Spence Jah of radio station, Q103, will play hosting duties.

For those people who care about their threads when going out, here’s a little ‘heads up;’ InnaVision will be filming live for their “Mission” video. The SHC, will feature this music video in their upcoming movie.

Here’s a crash course for those wondering what it means to “save Honolua.” In the past, Honolua, located in West Maui, was slated for the development of luxury homes and a golf course. Six hundred acres were going to be utilized for that project. As this region has high cultural and environmental significance, public outcry stymied further progression of that commercial and private project. In less than one year, over 14,000 signatures were gathered in protest, and the Maui County Council earmarked $1 million for future land acquisition.

The Save Honolua Coalition hopes to use Friday’s benefit concert as a platform to launch their new mission: To establish Honolua in a community land trust.
