Local Experts to Discuss North Kihei Development Issues

County Councilman Don Couch, General Plan Advisory Committee Vice-Chairman Dick Mayer, and Kihei Mauka planning coordinator Rory Frampton will be the featured speakers at the next Kihei Community Association meeting tomorrow, May 17.

The Association is looking for public input and has brought these experts together in order to answer some of the questions often discussed regarding development in Kihei. In particular, the meeting will cover the projected expansion in North Kihei, mauka of the Piilani Highway and include information on the history of South Maui development. The meeting announcement also noted that a lack of planning over the past decades has contributed to current problems, including near shore ocean pollution, crowded schools, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of safe avenues for bicycles and pedestrians in Kihei.

The meeting will be held on this Tuesday, May 17.  Doors open at 6:00 PM, for talk story & light pupus. The meeting will start prompty at 6:30PM at the Kihei Charter Middle School at 41 E Lipoa behind the Kihei Gas. Non-perishable food donations will also be accepted for the Maui Food Bank.
