Kaiser’s Maui Lani Clinic Receives National Quality Award for Medical Home Model

Kaiser Permanente’s Maui Lani clinic in Wailuku has received the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Physician Practice Connection’s Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition for its integrated and coordinated care delivery system.

“We’re excited and honored to be recognized for all of the hard work and effort we put into enhancing the quality of care we deliver to our members here on Maui,” said George Talbot, MD, Kaiser Permanente’s physician-in-charge for Maui, in a written company statement yesterday. “Our team approach to coordinating all aspects of our patients’ care is supported by a fully integrated electronic health record and ensures that our patients receive the best care and service that we can possibly provide to them.”

Kaiser Permanente’s model is based on coordinated long term care and standardized systems, such as the fully integrated electronic medical record system. With Hawaii Kai and Maui Lani completed, Kaiser Permanente is striving to have 16 Hawaii clinics designated PCMH Level 3 – the highest standard – by the end of 2011.
