Maui’s NSC Partners Releases New Brain Testing App
Maui-based NSC Partners LLC announced recently that it has released its 21-Item Neuropsychological Test iPhone App designed for use by licensed clinicians and doctors in screening for brain impairments.
21-Item Neuropsychological Test iPhone App is a test for exaggeration of existing problems or poor effort during the course of a neuropsychological examination.
“In the context of a neuropsychological examination, bias refers to a systematic source of variability in test performance that is relatively independent from the individual’s true level of ability. Bias can influence both the reliability (e.g., consistency and stability) and validity of neuropsychological test performance. One form of bias is exaggeration of existing problems or poor effort during the course of neuropsychological testing. The 21-Item Test is designed to detect the latter form of bias,” said Dr. Michael Franzen, PhD, co-author of the 21-Item Test.
Dr. Franzen, PhD, is the Director of Neuropsychology at the Allegheny Neuropsychiatric Institute and Chief Neuropsychologist at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He also co-authored of “Screening for Brain Impairment: A manual for mental health practice.”
The App comes with an initial set of 10 patient tests and includes the instructional manual that can be read in App, emailed, or printed. Additional tests may be purchased for $1 each for a set of 50. 21-Item Neuropsychological Test 1.0 is $24.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store.
NSC Partners LLC is headquartered in Maui, Hawaii and is a privately held software research and development company.
