Maui Recognized in Forbes and Parents Magazines
By Wendy Osher
The beauty and intellectual appeal of Maui are among topics featured in two recent national publications.
The unique blend of high tech industry and picturesque beaches drew the attention of Forbes reporter Kym McNichols who made a visit to Maui in May.
During her stay, she interviewed Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa at Kanaha Beach Park, a world-renown wind-surfing spot, and growing brainstorming ground for the nation’s top tech entrepreneurs.
The report was an offshoot of a Forbes story about Maui’s kiteboarding scene. Maui Now caught wind of the Forbes discussion, and explored the “tech industry in paradise potential” as well in a story that asked: Could Maui be the Next Silicon Valley?
Another publication, Parents Magazine took notice of another beach on Maui, selecting South Maui’s Kamaole Beach Park III as one of the top ten best beaches for families this year. The location was ranked third for its small waves, clear water, and large grassy recreational areas. The story was published in the magazine’s online edition.
