Saturday’s Kalanikau Regatta originally scheduled for Ka Lae Pohaku Park in Kihei will be moved to Kahului Harbor instead. The Maui County Hawaiian Canoe Association made the decision to relocate the regatta as a safety precaution against predicted south swell conditions.

There are more than a thousand paddlers competing in the weekend event. The regatta is the sixth in a seven-regatta season that leads up to the State Canoe Paddling championship, being hosted on Maui in August.
