Delinquent Refuse Accounts on Maui total $380,000

An estimated 3,600 residential customers in Maui County failed to pay their refuse collection fees on time. The semi-annual fee was due on June 30, 2011. As of July 12, 2011 the delinquent accounts totaled $380,600.
County officials say late customers that fail to pay by July 26, 2011, will have their accounts closed.
The County of Maui Solid Waste Division sent out notices to delinquent customers on July 12, 2011. Payments can be made at the Refuse & Landfill Accounts office located at One Main Plaza, Suite 200, or mailed to Solid Waste, 2200 Main St., Suite 200, Wailuku, HI 96793. Questions can be directed to the accounts division at 270-1731.

On another note, the County of Maui Solid Waste Division, missed a route in the Paia and Kihei service areas due to a staff shortage. County officials apologized for the inconvenience and say they will be picking-up the affected routes on Tuesday July 19, 2011.
Areas affected in Paia include:
- Aleiki Place
- Hana Highway
- Hoku Place
- Kuau Beach Place
- Stable Road
- Nalu Place
- Meha Place
- Luna Place
- and all surrounding streets.
Areas affected in Kihei include:
- The Piilani Highway from Kaiolohia Street (Piilani Subdivision) to Ohukai Road (Gas Express Area) and all surrounding streets. The route also includes Pakalana Place, Olani Place and Kinaole Circle.
