Around-the-clock lane closures are in effect for a portion of Kaahumanu Avenue beneath the Waiale Road Bridge.

The single-lane closure went into effect over the weekend and continues through 6 p.m. Sunday, August, 7, 2011.

Crews from the state Department of Transportation are working on railing and post repairs to the bridge.  During the construction period, concrete barriers will close one out of three lanes to provide a safety zone for motorists.  The closure extends along Kaahumanu Avenue from Naniloa Drive/Tings Drive to Kinipopo Street.

Two lanes remain open for two-way traffic.

Pedestrians will be escorted around the work area between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily. After work hours, the bridge sidewalk on the south side of the bridge will be open to pedestrians.

During daytime work hours, there will be alternating single lane closures on Waiale Road in both directions from Nani Street to Oihana Street.
