Mayor: HNU Energy Fits With County Objectives
By Wendy Osher
Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa congratulated HNU-Energy, after the company was selected to represent the County of Maui at the APEC conference this Fall.
“The county is putting a huge emphasis on renewable energy, and this selection of HNU fits right in with what our objectives are,” said Mayor Arakawa.
“This is an innovative company which is dedicated to finding more efficient ways to gather and store renewable energy. Their work is always evolving and that is the key to any company’s success,” he said.
HNU-Energy was established on Maui in 2006, and is one of the most widely licensed photovoltaic installers in the state.
It was one of six Maui companies selected by the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development and forwarded to the APEC Hawai’i Host Committee for consideration. A total of 12 companies from Maui County originally applied.
HNU Founder and CEO Dan O’Connell said his company employs a staff of engineers – electrical, optical, and mechanical – who are always looking for better solutions.
“We have a number of patents . . . but we want to make better products with higher efficiency,” O’Connell said. “We’re very excited and proud to represent Maui.”
