Keep it mellow on Friday night and stop by First Friday in Wailuku for dinner, shopping, and live music . You’ll want to save your energy for Saturday’s Couture Hawaii Runway Fashion Show at the MACC, followed by DJs without Borders’ late night party at Moana Cafe.

WAILUKU FIRST FRIDAY Friday, 9/2 from 6-9 p.m.

Maui has become accustomed to the monthly fun of Wailuku’s First Friday, but this Friday offers some particularly special events.

The Iao Theater is having a street sale with costumes and props from Maui OnStage’s recent productions. The sale begins at 6 p.m. This month’s event is dedicated to fallen Maui serviceman, Kraig Vickers. This First Friday is also the first official event in Maui County being held by Festivals of Aloha, an annual event which celebrates Hawaiian heritage with activities on the islands of greater Maui.

There will be live performances by Makaha Sons, Ikaika Blackburn, Joel Katz, Gene Argel & Ohana at the Wailuku Banyan Tree Park and HiRiZ and Dejavu at the Maui Things Stage.

DJs WITHOUT BORDERS PRESENTS: IGNITE at Moana Cafe, Saturday 9/3 starting at 10 p.m.

It’s the last DJs Without Borders until December, and DJs Trip, Sid and Nadi surely plan to blow off the roof to celebrate.

The lines get pretty long by the time the doors open, so make sure to get there early enough to get in. Another tip – leave the jacket at home. Moana’s dance floor can get toasty.

Costumes are encouraged – wigs, wings, masks, tu-tus and top hats. If not, face and body paint will be available inside.
