ILWU Joins Hannemann in Maui Press Announcement
By Wendy Osher
The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), Local 142 will host a press conference on Maui this Wednesday.
The event is hosted by union president Isaac Fiesta Jr, and former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann–both are expected to make a statement.
The ILWU is Hawaii’s largest private sector union with 20,000 members—nearly 80% of whom live and work on the neighbor islands.
The Maui press conference takes place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, at the ILWU Maui Division office in Wailuku.
Fiesta and Hannemann will then fly to the Big Island on the same day for a second press conference to be held at 3 p.m. at the Hawaii Division Hall in Hilo.
The nature of the press conference and topic discussion was not released.
