100 Kihei Citizens Agree To Be “Locked Up” for Charity
By Wendy Osher
More than one hundred of Kihei’s top business and community leaders will participate in the upcoming MDA Lock Up event for South Maui.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association teams up with community professionals who agree to “serve time” while trying to raise $1,600 “bail” each.
The funds are enough to send two local children with muscle disease to summer camp at Camp Erdman.
A similar event held in Kahului last month raised a total of $32,000 for the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The upcoming event in South Maui will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lulu’s in Kihei.
The top fundraising “jailbird” will win a Maui “stay-cation” at Ka`anapali Beach Hotel and all fundraising professionals have a chance to win door prizes the day of their mock incarceration.
