Big Island 3.9 Earthquake, No Tsunami

There is no tsunami expected following a preliminary magnitude 3.9 earthquake in the Saddle Region of the Big Island of Hawai’i.
The quake was reported at 10:17 a.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2011.
The earthquake was located at a depth of 7.4 miles, about 5 miles North of the Mauna Loa Summit; 16 miles SSW of Pohakuloa; 19 miles ESE of the Hualalai Summit; and 25 miles ESE of Kailua.

The National Weather Service’s Pacific Tsunami Warning Center located in Ewa Beach issued a statement saying no tsunami is expected.
