Capital Campaign for Camp Maluhia Kicks Off

The Maui County Council Boy Scouts of America kicked off its Capital Campaign for Camp Maluhia and its Scout Center during a benefit dinner at the King Kamehameha Golf Club.

The event drew an estimated 225 guests, and helped to raise more than $18,000.

Planned renovations include improvements to the old dining hall and director cabin; replacement of camp bathrooms; upgrading the water system for fire suppression; re-roofing buildings; installation of solar panels and wind energy generation; and later construction of a new dining hall.

“It is an exciting time as we begin renovating and upgrading Camp Maluhia,” said Robert Nakagawa, Scout Executive of the Maui County Council Boy Scouts of America. “It has been a great facility to thousands of scouts and the Maui community since 1937 and we are enthusiastic about building for our future.”

Key members of the Boy Scouts of America orgnaization: Maui President, Hilton Unemori; Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America, Bob Mazzuca; and National Executive Board Member of the Boy Scouts of America, Ronald Migita.
