Search Resumes for Missing Hiker at Haleakala

Fire rescue crews resumed their search this morning for a hiker reported missing at Haleakala National Park on Maui.
The search began at 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2012, after the 58-year-old man failed to show up from a hike on the Halemauu Trail.
Crews searched until 11:30 p.m., suspending their search overnight, according to fire officials.

The Maui Fire Department’s Air-1 helicopter, accompanied by Rescue-10 from Kahului, and E-13 from Kula resumed the search at first light this morning (Monday, January 23, 2012).
