A California development firm has plans to build an outlet mall and promenade in South Maui.

The GLA Maui Outlet center and Piilani Promenade are proposed for construction on land just north of the planned Kihei High School on the mauka side of the Piilani Highway near the Kaonoulu Street intersection.

The projects are proposed by Eclipse Development Group, based in Irvine, California.

The Piilani Promenade section of the development is in the pre-development phase and has already started pre-leasing spaces; with the projected Grand Opening slated for the early part of 2014, according to the company website.

The GLA Maui Outlet center, meantime, would be comprised of about 300,000 square feet of restaurants and shops. The company has already set up opportunities to lease space at that location as well.
