A group of teens from Maui High School head to Baltimore, Maryland to compete in the 15th Annual National Ocean Science Bowl next week.

The Maui team advanced to the national competition after winning the regional Aloha Bowl in March.

The team is led by coach Edwin Ginoza, and includes members: Steven Okada, Ashley Vidad, Bryson Galapon, Gabriel Salazar and Min Sung Kim.

Maui High School is among 25 teams from across the nation that are competing in the event which runs from April 19 to 22, 2012.

The National competition will test students on their marine sciences knowledge.

During the weekend-long competition, teams will also participate in interactive field trips and an engaging career event.

The first, second and third place teams at the National event will receive all-expense paid awards trips to various locations around the country, to conduct ocean science research with field experts.
