Willie Nelson & Son Release Duet Music Video
By Madeline Ziecker
Country music legend Willie Nelson and son Lukas Nelson released a new music video today – a heartwarming rendition of Eddie Vedder’s “Just Breathe.”
The video captures scenes of Papa Nelson and son in remote, old-American-style locations (likely in the West) singing an alternating duet to a song about taking time to stop and cherish a relationship with a loved one.
What do Willie Nelson, Lukas Nelson, and Eddie Vedder have in common besides immense talent and successful music careers? They all live (at least part-time) in Hawaii.
Willie Nelson is a long-time Maui resident. It’s hard to walk into Paia’s landmark, Charley’s Restaurant & Saloon, without seeing the country star serenely smiling down from one of the several photos of him on the establishment’s walls.
Lukas Nelson grew up between Paia and Texas. Like his father, he brings the aloha instilled in him on the island everywhere he goes and into his music. He’s spotted at most of his shows wearing both cowboy boots and a “Paia” t-shirt.
He’s currently traveling the nation on tour for his band’s (Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real) second album, Wasted.
There’s nothing more “real” and all-American than a father and son singing together about companionship in the country. The video also speaks to the Hawaiian theme of ohana that clearly strikes a chord with the Nelson family.
