By Wendy Osher
More than 30 employers are expected to participate in a “Hiring Our Heroes – Maui” event this week at the King Kamehameha Golf Club.
The hiring fair is hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce and National Chamber Foundation with jobs available for veterans and military spouses of all ranks and levels of experience.
Companies range from America’s biggest employers to dozens of small companies from across the state.
Since its launch in March 2011, Hiring Our Heroes has held more than 190 hiring fairs nationwide, helping more than 9,500 veterans and military spouses find employment.
Thursday’s event is also part of “Hiring 500,000 Heroes,” a national campaign announced by the US Chamber, National Chamber Foundation, and Capital One, to engage the business community in committing to hire 500,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014.
The Maui event runs from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the King Kamehameha Golf Club, located at 2500 Honoapiilani Highway in Waikapu.
Interested employers and job seekers should register for free at hoh.greatjob.net. Walk-in job seekers are allowed with proper military ID.
This hiring event is being conducted in partnership with the Maui Chamber of Commerce, US Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service, Workforce Development Division Worksource Maui, Office of Veteran Services, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, and the United States Army Reserve.
The US Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
