Wailea Community Association Awards $18,800 In Maui Scholarships

Seven Maui graduating seniors have received scholarships worth $18,800 from the Wailea Community Association (WCA).

A reception was held at Longhi’s in The Shops at Wailea last week to honor seven Maui high school graduates who were awarded scholarschips totaling $18,800.

Businesses and homeowners of Wailea make up the Wailea Community Association, and as such contribute to the scholarship fund, and a portion of the association’s annual budget is earmarked for programs such as the scholarships for Maui County students.

The WCA’s Community Relations Committee reviewed numerous applications for their annual Scholarship Program, which offers Maui County’s high school seniors, an opportunity for financial assistance with their college education.

Applicants undergo an extensive application process which includes academictranscripts, letters of recommendation, school related awards, community service and a personal statement of their educational plans, career and personal goals.

The 2012 Wailea Community Association scholarship recipients are as follows:

Teresa Kahaleuahi – King Kekaulike High School, attending Colorado State
Dwayne S. Manzanillo -Maui High School, attending University of Hawaii, Manoa
Ashley Ryan Vidad – Maui High School, attending University of Hawaii, Manoa
Chaymira Coloma – Maui High School, attending University of Hawaii, Manoa
Sabastian Sayegh Grant -Seabury Hall attending New York University
Lukas Kramer – Seabury Hall attending Chapman University
Charisse Manley – Molokai High School attending Azusa Pacific University )
