Woman Rescued after Fall in ‘Iao Valley

Rescue crews on Maui assisted a visitor out of ‘Iao Valley on Monday after the woman fell about 25-feet while hiking in ‘Iao Valley.

Crews from Engine 1 in Wailuku and Rescue 10 in Kahului were dispatched to the scene at 4:37 p.m. to an area about three-fourths of a mile into the trail.

The 18-year-old woman from North Carolina sustained lower back, leg injuries, scrapes and bruises during the fall from rocks in the valley.

She was stabilized by responding personnel and about 45 minutes later, was carried to an awaiting ambulance and transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
