Hawaii Craftsmen is seeking Maui artists for its 2012 Annual Statewide Juried Exhibition  which will be on view August 30 through September 20, 2012 at the Honolulu Museum of Art School Gallery.

The Hawaii Craftsmen is a 45 year old non-profit organization dedicated to promoting fine craft in the arts community of Hawaii.

Artists are encouraged to enter traditional or non-traditional craft with a fresh approach or point of view.

The exhibition is open to functional and non-functional craft objects in the categories of clay, fiber, glass, metal, mixed media, and wood.

Awards of Excellence with cash prizes will be selected by the juror and presented at the opening reception.

All entries must be of original esign and created independently within the last two years. No work previously shown in a juried exhibition is eligible.

Submissions from Maui will be coordinated by Hawaii Craftsmen board representative Tim Garcia who can be reached at (808) 572-5597 or by email to [email protected].

Drop off and registration for Maui artists will be August 8 for the August 10, pre-show and opening to be held at the Maui Mall space. The public is invited to view the Mau pre-show at the public gallery location at the Maui Mall from August 10 through August 21, daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The final drop off and registration is August 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the gallery. Jurying will begin at 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a lecture and potluck beginning at 5:30 p.m. Selected works are due to arrive at the Honolulu Museum Art School Gallery on August 27.

The selected artists are responsible for shipping art to Honolulu event, but the Hawaii Craftman covers return shipping up to $200.

Member’s initial registration fee is $25 and non-members fee is $75. Interested artists will find the exhibition prospectus online at www.hawaiicraftsmen.memberlodge.org/ae.
