Wailuku Fire Burns Brush near Lunalilo Homes

Maui firefighters were dispatched Sunday night to a brush fire located on the steep embankment across the street from St. Anthony School in Wailuku.
Callers told authorities that flames reached the top of the embankment, and came within 40 feet of homes on the top of the hill on Lunalilo.
The fire was first reported at 8:16 p.m., on Sunday, August 19, 2012, and was brought under control within a half an hour.
The brush fire burned an estimated 2000 square foot section of brush.

No damages were reported.

Crews responding to the scene included Wailuku’s Engine 1; Kahului’s Engine 10, Tanker 10, Rescue 10, and Hazmat 10; and Battalion Chief 2.
