Friday, Oct. 5, 2012: Baldwin vs. Maui High at War Memorial Stadium

The Bears defeated the Sabers 49-17 as Baldwin quarterback Keelan Ewaliko ran for three touchdowns and threw for another.

The game was the MIL second-round opener for the Bears, who are 4-1 overall and now one win away from clinching a Division I state tournament berth. Maui High fell to 0-2 in the second round and 2-4 overall.

Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012:  Lahainaluna at Kamehameha Maui

The Lunas’ defense scored 14 points — off back-to-back interceptions return for touchdowns — before their offense even took the field Saturday night. Unbeaten Lahainaluna went on to win its sixth consecutive game.

Kamehameha Maui, however, became the first MIL team to score on the Lunas this season. Sophomore place-kicker Kamaha’o Romero kicked a 35-yard field goal midway through the third quarter to snap the Lunas’ scoreless streak at 23 1/2 quarters.

Lahainaluna eventually posted a 35-3 victory and have now outscored its MIL opponents 215-3. The Warriors fell to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the second round.
